from above

Love’s breath beckoned me forward.

Fear of cloud’s rain and storm’s gain

Held my lungs ransom.

Death quivered

Life considered

But nothing could explain

What jittered inside me.

From ropes of despair to angelic hair,

From heart’s bleeding to joy exceeding

Is what one woman saw.

I now fight for love from love and with love

To honor the One who sent me.

A captive of love’s entanglement

I am.

Daily I surrender to the sweet sirens

That bathe in the midst of the evergreen.

From there, I come to reclaim

What is from above–

You, my love.
